Oh magical Mirifique! I lusted after you for such a long time, you are the blackest of black and full of beautiful glitter particles. I often think long and hard about buying high end cosmetics as the last thing i need is an addition to the expensive dissapointment list, neverless as i was in London i found myself taking my first steps into a Chanel store.

The air was scented with Chanel no 5 and the saleswomen all had that "I'm better than you" look about them. There are no prices on any products which may be a little daunting for some unless you know exactly what you want. After convincing one of the saleswomen that i actually wanted to buy the product (clearly they thought i was lost), the tedious giftwrapping began. First my reciept was placed in its very own envelope scented with chanel no 5. My gift bag was filled with embossed tissue paper along with my product and finally the handles were tied with ribbon. The wrapping was done with such precision it makes a beautiful gift but if your in a hurry i recommend returning when you have some free time.

I hurried back to the hotel and opened up my carefully wrapped box, the little details added to each purchase scream luxury. The product is packaged in a small gold and black box and includes a compact liner brush. Mirifique is a dark gel eyeshadow/liner designed for smokey eye looks and glamorous winged eyes.

As i said before Mirifique is a gel product rather than a shadow, because of this it applies smoothly with no streaks or discolouration. The downside is that it is near impossible to blend, it requires a lot of work to blend into shades that differ greatly in tone. My favourite look is a simple high impact dark eye. I first cover my whole eye area with a light silver toned highlight colour, no primer is required as the gel wont budge easily. Next i use mirifique on my eyelids being sure to stop before the crease line and leave the very inner corners highlighterd. Using a clean fluffy blending brush buff the product out towards the outer corner of the eye into a blurred flick. You are left with a dramatic evening (or in my case everyday) look that is simple to create.

I am somewhat of an expert when it comes to black glitter shadows, you can see how dark and opaque it is in comparison with other shades. Mirifique is the second from the left, there is a good even ratio of glitter throughout the swatch. If you have used Soot and Stars you know how dark it is, seeing the comparison is quite surprising. After using this product for a couple of months i know it was the right purchase for me. Illusion D'ombre shadows retail for £23, and in my opinion Mirifique is worth every penny.
