Kat Von D has been a major source of inspiration since my teenage days spent obsessively watching Miami Ink with my Mum. Much of my childhood was spent in Tattoo parlors, whilst my mum got inked I would sit and draw my own tattoo designs. Miami Ink was the first time I was really exposed to a female tattooist and an incredible one at that. I loved everything about her, style, tattoos and a fun but cool attitude. She inspired me to base my final school art project around the art of the tattoo. As I have grown my skills are focused mainly around the art of makeup. So when I first heard about Kat's makeup line I freaked the fuck out, especially once I found out they are cruelty free too. Of course her products are only available in the states but Sephora have recently started shipping products to us here in the UK (*fist pumps).

I spent a fortune on various lip products including two stunning liquid varieties. My current favourite is this stunning matt black shade aptly named Witches. I took a risk purchasing this as black lipsticks don't always suit me (glossy finishes) but Witches is stunning. The packaging is beautiful and actually reminds me of a white ink tattoo design I used in my art project. The lipstick has a doe foot applicator which is my all time favourite as it makes application super easy. Once applied the product looks like a thick shiny oil slick on the lips but it quickly dries to flawless matt black perfection. The consistency is creamy, smooth and requires just a single coat. I found that it lasts very well unless you are eating greasy food, but it is absolutely perfect for a night out.

Kat recently uploaded a video to her new beauty channel on youtube, challenging her customers to create a look using a single product. She used one of her liquid lipsticks in the shade Vampira (my other favourite) on her eyes, lips, cheeks and even to fill in her eyebrows. I tried out witches as an eyeliner using a fine detailing brush and it worked amazingly, even better than my favourite gel eyeliner. I plan on filming my own one product beauty challenge video without the eyeshadow I used. Here's my final look, impressive, no?
